One election, from roster to result.

The life of one election

Each tag names the row in our claims register the sentence rests on. Where a feature has a limit, it is written underneath.

1. Set up the institution

   • Run your election opens the admin dashboard in a browser, where staff set up the institution, its sub-groups and its elections.C26
   • Staff and community leaders sign in with Continue with Google or an email and password. Any other account is turned away.C43Limit: Google works only once the site address is on Firebase's allowed list.

   Pages we imported say "Not on Baalot yet" until the institution claims them by email.C44

2. Bring in the roster

   • Members join through the institution's approved roster, and the admin is the check on who is on it.C12
   • Sub-groups match by course code, so each ballot reaches the right department.

3. Build the ballot

   • Add positions and candidates, choose which sub-groups each ballot is for, and set when polls open and close.C14

4. Voting opens

   • One ballot per institution member. That holds as well as the roster is accurate.C7Limit: depends on roster accuracy.
   • Shareholder AGMs weight each vote by shares, allow proxy voting and track quorum live.

   Members confirm their ballot with their voting PIN. Show who I voted for reads the sealed receipt on that phone only.C39Limit: no receipt on this phone means nothing to show, not a missing vote.

5. Watch it live

   • A live count of who has voted, about a minute behind.C17
   • Pro leaders can attach a livestream link from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, Twitch, Zoom or Google Meet, shown beside the live count.C27Limit: only YouTube plays inside Baalot, the rest open in their own app; the link is public to anyone who can see the election.

6. Close and results

   • When the election closes, candidates hear "You won!", "It's a tie" or "Your results are in", once per election.C41Limit: result is the server count, not a certification.
   • Results are always marked Provisional: the server's count, not a certification.C33

   Voters get the winners in the close notice, and a Results are in card on Home.C41

What members get besides the ballot

The Android app is not on the Play Store yet. These are the parts of it around the vote itself.

Levi

An assistant on its own chat screen that answers questions about your elections, with chat history kept on the phone. It runs on Groq, with Google Gemini answering when Groq is busy.C23Limit: Gemini still sees the question and recent lines.

Vote now, Remind me

Home shows a Vote now pill for live ballots. Remind me sets a notification on your phone.C25Limit: reminder is a local phone notification.

Communities

Anyone can start a community from the Create sheet and invite people with a link or code. Leaders run it in the app and handle join requests.C21Limit: never verified, the link is the only check.
